This walk follows the long but easy path which leads from Lateis to the malghe of the Monti di Sauris.
From Lateis follow the road, mainly a dirt track with just the steeper stretches surfaced,
which rises above the village, crosses the Forca Frumeibm and then
descends gently to Hinter d'Holbe.
At the next fork leave the road which goes to Eimblateribn on the left (cf. WALK no. 5)
and continue along the main road until it reaches the crossroads where the wood and pastures meet.
Leave the road for Casera Pieltinis on the left and continue on the road which rises eastwards
passing just above Casera Palazzo (1532 m.).
The road becomes a dirt track and continues almost on the flat for some kilometres until it
reaches Casera Losa (1765 m.) If you want to extend this excursion, continue on to
Casera Forchia (1739 m.) from where bikers can navigate the steep slopes
down to Mione (a drop of 1100m).

Another excursion highly suited to both hikers and bikers is
the road from Sauris di Sopra to Casera Razzo (1739 m.) in the province of Belluno.
From Sauris di Sopra follow the road until you reach the Stavoli Lucharlanar. Just past
these continue to follow the road which rises steadily by means
of a series of hairpin bends.
At the top, the view over the Razzo Altipiano, dominated by the mountain peaks of Monte Bivera
and Monte Tiarfin is extremely beautiful.
Another 2 km. of dirt track, the first stretch on the flat and then dropping gradually,
leads to a crossroads. Here you should take the S.S. 619 (a main road) off to the left
which goes to Cadore and to the right to the Val Pesarina.
Casera Razzo (1739 m.) is about one hundred metres from the fork in the road and 2 km.
further on towards Cadore stands the mountain shelter known as
Rifugio Tenente Fabbro (1783 m.).
If you wish to continue further, there are a number of possible destinations.
To vary the return journey, we suggest continuing along the route
(path CAI 210 of the Club Alpino Italiano) which from Casera Razzo goes down towards
Casera Mediana (1661 m.) and then along the CAI path 209 which, crossing the Casoni Piazza peak,
descends as far as Mulini di Sauris.
When you reach the crossroads follow the CAI signposts to Sauris di Sopra.
This is a particularly scenic and rewarding walk but is suitable only for people who are on form.

Sauris di Sotto » Monte Olbe (Baita Minigher) » Lateis |
| Distance   6 km |
 |
| Time needed |
3 hours |
| Degree of difficulty |

This may be considered an alternative to WALK no. 5 but by putting WALKS 5
and 8 together it is possible to hike all the way round the base of Monte Olbe.
The first part of the walk as far as the Sella di Eimblateribn is the same as WALK no. 5.
As you approach the Sella you leave the main path and turn to the right along a mule track.
After approximately 200 metres there is a second fork, take the left hand path which,
after a series of climbs leads to a grassy clearing and the Baita Minigher (1580 m.,
approximately 40 minutes from Eimblateribn).
To walk down to Lateis, turn back about 200 metres to the first bend and take the left hand path
which drops steeply down grassy slopes close to the ruins of a building.
Another hundred or so metres further down, you come to a forest path which
leads sharply down to Lateis.

WALK n . 9
Sauris di Sopra » Mulini » Sauris di Sopra |
| Distance   2 km |
 |
| Time needed |
1.30 hours |
| Degree of difficulty |

|
This walk goes from Sauris di Sopra to the bottom of the Val Lumiei.
From the hamlet of Sauris di Sopra follow the road which leads down to the Albergo Rikhelanhaus.
At the fork just above the hotel continue to the right along the forest path signposted as CAI 209.
The path crosses a stream and quickly comes out at Preitchpoudn, a fairly open area with a number
of small houses and huts. The track then leads back into the wood and down to a fork near the bottom
of the valley at Mulini.
The return trip follows the same route back. From the fork at Mulini you can continue
to the left following a forest trail to where the Lumiei river comes out of a narrow gorge
and flows into Lake Sauris.

WALK n . 10
Sauris di Sopra » Casera Festons |
| Distance   3,3 km |
 |
| Time needed |
1.15 hours |
| Degree of difficulty |
average |
|
From the main square of Sauris di Sopra, near the fountain,
take the road which passes between the houses and continue following the signposts for
the path numbered CAI 204 which quickly turns into a dirt track.
The walk is all uphill and hairpin bends and gives a perfect view
over the valley Sauris di Sopra, Sauris di Sotto and Lateis, the lake and
the surrounding mountain chain.
After about a quarter of an hour's walk, the track becomes a little less steep until
it reaches path CAI 206 and, crossing the Sella Festons, quickly comes out at the Laghetti
Festons and Gasera Festons (1833 m.) in a wide, sunny plateau.
For those who would like to continue their walk, there are a number of possibilities:
following along path CAI 204, in the direction of Gasere Malins and Vinadia Grande and then
down to Pradibosco or Pesariis or following the path CAI 206 until it reaches Monte Pieltinis
and Gasera Pieltinis and then down to Sauris di Sotto.
