'Sauris Agribeer' was first set up in December 1999 by three partners and a master brewer of
proven experience.
It produces and markets high quality traditional organic beer which is neither pasteurised nor filtered.
You might be wondering, "Why beer and why in Sauris?".
Beer, first and foremost, for passion; passion for the product and for the atmosphere which surrounds it.
Beer in order to do something new or, rather, something different, something natural, to occupy a corner
of a market which was still virgin territory. Beer because Dario and Sandro were already producing it in
small quantities for their personal consumption and it was a short step to creating a microbrewery.
The beer of Sauris gradually took shape as first contacts were made with "Planet Beer" in Rimini to
learn how to run a microbrewery, the opportunity arose to purchase the necessary machinery and to
speak with the competent authorities in loco, a visit was made to similar concerns in other
European countries and, finally, the realisation dawned that the idea was actually feasible.
So why Sauris? Because it offered one of the fundamental ingredients of a natural, high quality beer:
high quality water.
Plant covering an area of about 200 square metres was built at Sauris di Sopra.
Two main types of beer, Pilsen Pale Ale and Vienna Red, together with the more recent hemp beer
are now produced using the water which flows fresh and sparkling from the springs of Sauris,
rich in mineral salts, and far from the smog and atmospheric pollution present in industrialised centres.
The purity of the water and its natural physico-chemical balance make further treatment superfluous.
But that's not all. The latest addition is "smoked beer", conceived expressly to accompany the well know
salami of Sauris.
Each stage of production (of an annual 3,400 hectolitres) is followed with careful attention to detail.
During grinding granule-size is kept constant, enzymatic processes, boiling, fermentation and maturation
are all optimised. And the end result is a pleasing high quality product all set to drink. ZAH REBEER!
