Just ten years ago B&B S. Antonio was a stavolo (a barn and hayloft ), located a kilometre out of town, along the road that leads to high mountain paths and dairy farms.

The structure had been derelict for some time and the restructuring definitely saved it from total destruction. The exterior is authentic and original material has been recovered wherever possible.

The area is called Modepoudn and in Carinzian dialect means mowing plain, which confirms how much grass there was for pasture here and the vast value for agricultural economy.

Today the site is still isolated from the town, as it is surrounded by woods, but handy for the paths that lead to nearby villages and dairy farms that produce ricotta and typical Carnia cheese throughout the summer.

These places can be reached on foot, but also on horseback, by mountain-bike, with off-road vehicles, and in winter they offer cross-country skiing and use of a short but panoramic piste with ski-lift just opposite the town and very close to the house.

From the centre of Sauris di Sotto you should find the town hall on the right and the road for Sauris di Sopra on the left, and continuing straight past the last group of houses, you proceed for a further 500m or so, and on reaching a capital (on the left) dedicated to St Anthony, you begin to descend to the right and you will find the B&B, with its own spacious car park.

Three double rooms, with en-suite shower/bathroom and own entrance, have been created in the attic.

Opening:
from April to mid-May
from June to the end of September
from December to the end of February
